There are situations where an online baby shower is just what the
mother-to-be needs. For example, if the parents-to-be live far away from family
and friends (and won’t be able to make a trip “home” for a shower), an on-line
shower would be a great gesture to let them know how much their family and
friends are thinking about them. Other reasons include a mother on bed-rest that
needs a mood-booster or a complement to a traditional shower.
Online baby showers can be hosted two ways: you can find an online service
that specializes in hosting online baby showers (for a fee) or you can open a
group at any website that hosts message boards and invite the “guests” to join
the group.
Some benefits of online baby showers include having a plethora of wishes and
thoughts you (or the parents) can print out for the baby’s scrapbook and having
an on-line baby registry that make shopping for
baby gifts very easy. You can also have the mother-to-be post
pregnancy updates and photos.
Last, but not
least, you can even post games for the guests to try. Many online shower sites
provide games, but if you create your own group, you can post any game you wish.
Finally, when the baby is born, the parents can have you (the hostess) post the
baby’s information as an instant baby announcement.
